Given that the new Rolemaster Arms Law is still awaiting release into playtest, and that we can’t really start to run adventures until we have the combat rules, it was mildly disappointing to not be able to start our campaign last night.

5 Tips On Starting A New System
- Run a short scenario with a set of pre-gen heroes.
- Include a short fight, challenges using all of the key skills, and an opportunity for each hero to show off their key ability / power.
- Make the character sheet super-simple to read by cutting out all of the “working out”.
- Don’t use the rulebook, just teach them what they need as they need it.
- Make it high-pace and keep smiling!
Sometimes the challenge comes in getting ur head around the core rules, sometimes it’s reading them, making time to read them and having energy to take it in.
Being able to reference previous systems in your mind fills in a LOT of gaps.
Having a character sheet with all the bugs knocked out of it helps too.
Access to full core rules helps to cross ref and affirm what you think u understand elsewhere.
Some can fill these gaps with experience, but as a beginner; all those lil challenges add up to a road block to a tired mind after a day’s work.
All U.R.’s points above are valid and really do help. LOTS!
Thank you 🙂
