It’s been a super-exciting couple of days, not least because (in addition to fantastically snowy conditions) I’ve been sent the proofing copy of Module M2: Moonspike Tower for Mythras Classic Fantasy. This is the second in my series of adventures, following on from Module M1: The Terror of Ettinmarsh.
Having re-read the whole module, I am excited to see the almost-final product coming together! As ever, the folks over at The Design Mechanism have done a smashing job, bringing the maps and imagery to life in a fabulous manner. Pending edits, all it now needs is a cover and will no doubt land with a splash in the hobby community.
If you’ve not checked out Classic Fantasy, it…
…adapts the Mythras rules to old school dungeoneering, featuring adventuring classes, ranks of progression, and magic familiar to those players and Games Masters who have played the grandfather of all roleplaying games. It contains many versions of well-known, well-loved (!) monsters, and extensive guidance on magic items, treasure and adventuring underground.
I still consider it one of the finest roleplaying games ever devised and am proud to be able to write for the line.
I have to confess, seeing the map of the area around Anminster again, I am very tempted to write a proposal for a third installment of the saga: the sight of Sunken Veldra makes me pine to visit the Lizardman-infested and darkly haunted ruins of the ancient citadel.
Here’s to a swift completion for the project and to everyone getting a copy of Moonspike Tower soon!
Game on!
The Sunken Veldra could be a great setting for that mega dungeon you’d discussed in previous posts, parts above surface sometimes appearing as isolated ‘islands’ with other sunken below, under the water level perhaps preserved by either mystical or physical means.
Certainly a different set of challenges for the standard D&D player (if there is such a thing), yet still allowing for a variety of races/factions vying for control over territories within the hidden realm.
I’m vicariously very excited about this; imagining the things you could and may well conjour here.
Looking forward to hearing how it develops.
As u say, Game On!
