Yesterday was hugely exciting for me because Chaosium began (and funded) the RuneQuest Classic Edition Kickstarter.
This was like coming full-circle in my hobby: I began with RuneQuest 2nd Edition and here we are, some 35 or so years later, bringing that awesome game back into print!
And with RuneQuest comes gaming in the wondrous world of Glorantha.
Solo Excitement!
I know that, given the newly born game of D&D that we began just last week, I can’t be expecting to play RuneQuest with the regular guys anytime soon. Thus, I have decided to play some solo.
Last night I dug out the Guide to Glorantha tomes and began to (finally) read them. Today, having also found one of my two (rather ancient) copies of RuneQuest 2, I took the plunge and rolled up a character.
I’ve not got too far along in terms of characterisation, but I have formed a basic outline of the hero: a barbarian who, whilst not the strongest of warriors, shows some signs of being nimble and dextrous, with the blessing of the gods. As he has a riding animal, I am contemplating a Praxian riding beast… but I want time to consult the pages of the Guide before I settle on a concept.
This is, of course, the total reverse process of my other RuneQuest 6 characterisation… but, well, it just feels right.
Rough scribblings below:
Game on!
