The old school fantasy module M1: The Terror of Ettinmarsh has been released! I’m excited because that’s the adventure that I wrote!
The village of Anminster has a deadly secret. Anminster fort is built on the site of an ancient dwarven cairn, which was itself designed with a much more sinister purpose Now, something is stirring within the ruins, and it is up to the adventurers to save Anminster from the Terror of Ettinmarsh.
Designed for Rank 1 and 2 characters, The Terror of Ettinmarsh is a complete adventure for Classic Fantasy. Anminster can be used as a recurring location and a base for campaigning, and also acts as an introduction to the world of Greymoor, where further Classic Fantasy modules will be set.
Anminster is fully described, and the scenario contains all the maps and statistics needed for play.

A few questions regarding this adventure good sir.
First, will it be available in print?
Second, it says it is for Rank 1 to 2 characters, which I am thinking means you are supposed to start it at rank 1 and level up to rank 2 during it, yet from the preview I looked at on DTRPG it appears the entire adventure takes place in the span of 5 days, and given that it takes a month to train new abilities during a level up, I found that peculiar (also I cant really fathom rank 1s trying to take on a lich, rank 2 even seems daunting for said encounter, but I havent read the full product yet and dont know if he is depowered in someway from classical powerful D&D liches).
And lastly, I was under the impression that Mystamyr (I like that name btw) was your homebrew world setting. Did you decide merge it into the world of Greymoor after this opportunity took off, or is Mystamyr merely one nation/region of a world and it was always based in the world of Greymoor?
Thanks for asking those questions. Let’s see…
It’s already available in print on Lulu: http://www.lulu.com/shop/che-webster/classic-fantasy-m1-the-terror-of-ettinmarsh/paperback/product-23171571.html
It’ll be in print from Aeon Games Publishing too (link in post).
The adventure is ideal for Rank 1 characters but can also handle Rank 2 characters. Like in the old days, the Rank estimate indicates the minimum-maximum Rank appropriate for the adventure. I’m not going to spoil how the Terror himself fits in or how to defeat him, but I hope it’s a fun ride. He’s not depowered, however.
I suppose I should claim that Mystamyr was always part of Greymoor, but the truth is that Rodney Leary (the author of Classic Fantasy) asked if I would be willing to put Mystamyr into Greymoor. We worked together on fitting it onto his existing map (easier than I expected) and since then I have considered the realm part of the setting. Of course, I didn’t want to spoil that and kept (mostly) quiet until M1 was released. It is a tremendous honour!
Hope that helps!
I am considering trying out the classic fantasy + mythras rules with this module to see how this all hangs together. Based mainly on this blog of yours which has covered the game and the setting quite well. I liked the old style play from back in the 80s when I started with rpgs, and as the rules (seem to) derive from rune quest (and I was a fan of RQ2 and the world of glorantha back in the day) does this have any similar mechanisms like the old glorantha ‘cults’ to handle different beliefs and behaviours? The RQ2/Gloranthan cults and the Pendragon mechanics for passions and traits etc were the only two systems I saw that ever seemed to be good at positively and effectively encouraging appropriate player character behaviours in the setting. Now I’m not an expert on all the rpgs that ever were so I know I could easily be doing other systems a disservice, for which I apologise in advance. I just want to know if Mythras provides similar mechanisms to encourage appropriate ‘in game world’ behaviour.
Great to hear that we have got you thinking about giving Mythras Classic Fantasy a shot. It’s quite humbling to think that my module might be the one to get you started. Thanks for giving it a shot!
Yes, Mythras handles Cults and Brotherhoods in a way you’d recognise from RQ. That said, Classic Fantasy doesn’t directly emphasise those rules and leaves it up to the Games Master to decide how to utilise them in play. It’d be up to you to decide on how much you want to emphasise those ideas.
