It has been a while. Yet life goes on… and the spiritual journey continues.
This month I wanted to share a book that I’ve been enjoying from the classics of Christian thinking: “Who Moved The Stone?”
The blurb is actually pretty succinct:
The classic text on examining the evidence for the Resurrection. Convinced that the story wasn’t true, Frank Morison started to write about Jesus’ last days. However, as he studied this crucial period something happened. . .
First published in 1930, this is an in-depth exploration of what happened between the death of Jesus and the resurrection as recorded in the Bible. Using many information sources, this is crammed with vital detail that every Christian should know and is also a powerful tool for persuasion of those questioning Christianity.
Even 83 years on, the words of Frank Morison are still engaging and strangely refreshing to read. He has a very natural style which, as you read, draws you in to his thoughts very easily. I suppose that’s why it’s a classic.
I got reading this because I was refreshing my own understanding of the evidence for Jesus’ resurrection in preparation for teaching about it. The book is not technical and it is a relatively light read, making it excellent for the tired teacher who is seeking to review the major points.
This is a book for everyday people. I doubt that the modern atheist will read it (although they would probably benefit) but it’s a great book for those who, like Morison, doubt the miraculous. It’s a nice antidote to the shallow preaching of many Ministers who play down the details of Christ’s last days on Earth.
Enjoy!
